Mabey Memories

.
The desire of my heart is to become the person God dreams of and share those dreams with others; to unleash personal and corporate creativiy within the church, overflowing it with passion and freedom while searching for the face and character of God.

Creative pastors.com

Found this on ED Young's website today. Ed is the Sr.Pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas and the founder of Creative pastors.com

Why should we implement creativity in leadership (or the Church)?

God invented creativity. (in the beginning God created.....)

Jesus modeled it.

The Holy Spirit empowers it.

And people desperately need it.

Creativity is not an option for the church; it is a biblical mandate that flows from the very character of the Creator. If church leaders are going to live out the challenging mission that God has laid out for the local church, we must unleash the creative potential available to us.

What do you think?

Megan & Maddison

Since Megan was about 6 months old I took on the responsibility of baby sitting while mom and dad worked. She is now three and a half and in pre-school 2 days a week, but I still have her Mondays and last year well now it seems like it was almost two years ago already we added here little sister Maddison to the picture. They have been a joy and delight as only little girls can be. Now don't get me wrong, I would not trade in my BOYS for anything, and look forward to the days when we can go white water rafting and rock climbing together, but there is something about doing hair, (we did that today) and doing nails, we did that today too.....you mothers of girls will know what I mean, but certianly dont' envy the teenage girl years:) From that aspect I am glad we don't have girls, but delight in the fact that some day I will have 4 terrific daughter in laws. Time to get Noah and Micah to Piano lessons.

Teen Take Over

Today was our teen take over Sunday. The teens had the service, everything from offertory and special music to praise and worship as well as the sermon. Pastor Ed did that, but I have heard some of the teens share thier testimony and any number of them would be able to do a bang up job. Michaela Judkins brought many to tears as she sang special music "On My knees" while fighting the ending of bronchitis. The ever popular junior high band "Crossroads" had the place praising Jesus with their renditions of "Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus", "King of Majesty", and "Beautiful One". Here are their photos, looking at them all it is hard to believe they are already teenagers. We are pretty proud of them, Steven Mccoy and Zach have been friends since they were 2 and 3. Erin and Sarah Snyder came along about the time Zach was 5, as well as Kyla and Michaela. Peter joined them almost 3 and a half years ago, and nobody has been the same since:).

Pampered Chef Pictures

Fantastic Friday

My Uncle Kevin is a pilot and every few months he flies into Flint, Michigan ( about an hour northwest of Washington). Yesterday was one of those days. I was schedualed to go on a feild trip with Micah to the Instuctioanl rescource center of Utica schools, or the IRC for short. After confirming with Micahs teacher that there was plenty of help for the morning (an I do not miss field trips)I headed north to the Holiday Inn Gateway center to have breakfast with my Uncle Kevin. It is always a blessing to me.... you see living in Michigan in the winter is often like living in the Tundra, it is cold and windy and the sun does not shine for days at a time, so far this year 29 to be exact, family does not often come to visit for fear of getting stuck longer than intended, and you just do not see or visit people as often in the winter as you do the rest of the year. Kevin's visit for me was truly a blessing. We had a chance to catch up with each other and our families, he has four as well,I filled him in on what is happening in the life of the Mabeys and he asured me there are churches in Richmond, Virginia looking for great pastors (He lives in The Richmond, VA area as well as his brother, my Uncle Kieth) We talked some Steelers for a bit too, then as quick as it started it was over for he had to catch his shuttle back to the airport for another flight.

Later that night Sandra Mcleod picked me up and we headed to Burville, Mi for a Pampered Chef party hosted by Jolene Smith with Monica Rogers has the consultant, pampered chef parties are always good friends, good fellowship and good food! Friday was no exception! I am looking forward to recieving my new stoneware fluted pan and striped bowl. Maybe I will host a party too!

Extreme Makeover:Home Edition

Extreme Makeover in Bartlesville, OK

Big news in Bartlesville, OK. Extreme Home Makeover is in town this week and Oklahoma Wesleyan University is center stage. OKWU donated FIVE full-ride scholarships! They’re featured on the donor-page on the home builder’s website: extremesimmons.com

The family they are helping is a pastor’s family. The pastor passed in April and left his wife and 10 children (5 still at home) pretty much homeless. They gathered enough money to purchase a plot of land and two trailers. Extreme Home Makeover is obviously going to change their lives!

Some great OKWU information is here http://www.okwu.edu. As well as a daily journal from their perspective!

Ecclesiastes 7:3

Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

It is sorrow that makes us think deeply, long and soberly. Great thunderstorms of sorrow reveal hidden depths within that were never hitherto suspected.
God never uses anybody to a large degree, until after He breaks that one all to pieces. Joseph had more sorrow than all the other sons of Jacob, and it led him into a ministry of bread to all nations.

Every person and every nation must take lessons in God's school of adversity. "We can say blessed is night for it reveals to us the stars." at the same time we can say "blessed is sorrow for it reveales to us GOd's comfort"

A chapter in our lives is coming to an end, and in doing so I am trying to remember as C.S. Lewis stated in his movie the Chronicles of Narnia, " All that is wrong will be turned right when ASLAN comes into sight.

Beach Bash 2006

We had our Winter Beach Bash last night. About 30 people showed up. THe Gapp room was well decorated with the sun and palm trees, surf lights and lei garlands, hats and leis for every one, we had picnic foods and smoothies as well as lemonade and brownies for dessert. Pastor Ed Dj'd and we even did a little karaoke. Adrienne Hayes and Amy Ditto did fabulous versions of Shackles and Proud Mary. Such beautiful voices you never did hear until you have heard them sing. Dave Kinkle, Pastor Ed and Barry Haupt did great too! The weather held off until it was time to go home and then the rain and snow fell, the weather man told us 2- 5 inches but I think we were on the low side. It looked pretty for a while this morning but now it is just slush. Jacob Haupt came to spend the night with Aaron and Zach went to Robert Hall house, my boys have good friends. Matt and I had lunch with Wayne and Deanna Johnson, friends of ours from the Warren Woods Nazarene Church that are now part of the team that is church planting at Orchard Ridge, the church that meets at Duncan Elementary. They were very encouraging.

Small Straws In A Soft Wind

January19,2005

A very dear friend Vicki Hill down in Tennessee sent me this today, and it was meant just for me these days. I wanted to share it.

BE still. The situations you face have caused you to be unsettled and anxious, you are tending toward impulsivness. But, I say to you wait on Me. I will most certianly bring you through this troubling time, and I will strengthen, establish and settle you in my purpose as you yield to my guidance. Stop. Refocus. Be at peace, for you can trust me absolutely. Ask, and I will give you wisdom and direct your steps. Do not step out in your flesh and by the power of your own good ideas to try to bring resolution to your problems. Have faith in Me,says the LORD.

The Mabeys' at Christmas

A day at Duncan

Okay, so I am a lunch mom at the the younger boys school (Duncan) and last night I got a call to sub on the swing shift. (all 3 lunches) I did not have anything else schedualed today so I took it. Let me tell you , one, I am glad it was indoor recess and two I am not sure I like the swing shift. It involves all three recess. Now thankfully we were in doors today but otherwise I would have done three very cold and snowy recessess outside.
It was nice however; I got to see all 3 boys at school today, Micah likes it the most he never fails to come give me a hug and kiss. Aaron usually would like to at least say Hi but today he got busted because he is not allowed to wear an undershirt as a regular t-shirt to school and guess what he was wearing when I saw him? If you guessed an undershirt you were right!
The rest of th day was typical answering and returning phone calls plus preparing for our ladies ministries Winter Beach Bash for this Friday.
Now Zach has to get ready for discipleship class this evening so I need to get them all fed.

Aaron was gone all weekend at Austin Stulz' house so he is in his room playing Zachs PSP.
