Mabey Memories

.
The desire of my heart is to become the person God dreams of and share those dreams with others; to unleash personal and corporate creativiy within the church, overflowing it with passion and freedom while searching for the face and character of God.

Hondorus

This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24

I heard the voice of the Lord say, "who shall i send?: and I said "here am i, send me! " Isaiah 6:8

In 2007 I had the opportunity to go to Panama on a short term mission trip with my oldest son Zach- our team treated 4500 people in 10 days. This year i have the opportunity go to Honduras November 9-16, 2008 to work with the Honduran/ African people of Sambo Creek.

I need to raise $1300.00 dollars rather quickly! this fee will include airfare, food, lodging , transportation, gas and taxes for my trip.

In exodus 17, when it came time for Moses to strike the rock in the desert to get water for the thirsty Israelites, his part was very small. The main thing was what God was doing in the heart of the earth to provide a bountiful river of water.

BUT the two worked together; moses before the people; God in the hidden depths of the earth.
There are always 2 agents in every fruitful work; willing workers and a faithful God.
The human part is to do whatever God has asked us to do- strike the rock! God's work is to make the water flow.

I am anxious about the amount of money in a short period time, times are tough for every one right now but I am striking the rock!

If you can help financially please make check out to CWC ( Community Wesleyan Church) and send them to me at

Joelle Mabey
76976 Mary Grace, Romeo Mi 48065

in the memo you can write Joelle/Honduras and you can receive a tax credit.

If you can not help financially but you can pray please pray!

1. for life change
2. growth
3. my family as I will be away (yes by myself, well with a team but not my family)
4. the Sambo creek people will be willing and ready to accept spiritual and medical help
5. safe travels
6. Dr. and Mrs Lei our fearless leaders
7. our team which will be convening from all over the country

Micah

Another year older means we are another year close to having no children and all teenagers! Micah turned 10! Yep- hit the double digits! HE could hardly wait. It is especially tough cause Noah's birthday is two days before his. We celebrated separately however since they were two BIG birthdays. Today Micah had about 10 friends )makes sense right?) we had the big Jupiter jump and some karaoke going on, even the little ones got into it. some of them had great voices- put the grown ups to shame:) we had cake and ice cream and a huge bonfire, even a football game going on, thanks to Aaron and his 9th grade football team who were here to help us celebrate! Micah has been into this webkins thing lately and he had a huge webkins gift supply from his little friends:) I think he was very happy. His best friend Scott spent the night so it is like a never ending party..Tuesday Noah had his friends sleep over but they stayed into the day the following morning and last night Micah's party and his friend spending the night I am wondering does it ever end? yet at the same time not wanting it to! Summer has been an exciting time for us but it is slowly coming to a close- Micah's birthday marks the end for me~ it is kinda sad too 10 years old? where do the years go? Micah will be heading off to 4th grade this year and he told me a few weeks ago, I would not be able to hold his hand anymore cause we was not a baby any more, he was ten! Where did he get that from. It is true, he is not a baby but I still want to hold his hand- I will let yo know how that goes in the end. Maybe let him absorb the whole ten years old thing and he will get over it- it is not like I am kissing him good bye in the parking lot at school in front of his friends: aren't they funny?

Noah

Today we are celebrating Noah's 13th Birthday! Where do the years and the days go? He will be starting 7th grade this year and playing football. Who would have thought? He is taller than me now(but I still think I can take him down if I need too:)) not that I ever need to. He has become quite the griller too! You will have to ask him about that. We enjoyed an amazing summer this summer, and Noah has a tone of stories to tell- We are looking forward to many more years to come with Noah under our roof, but realize they will be gone all to quickly. He is outside right now trying to set up a tent that he and a few of his friends are going to sleep in tonight~ or at least stay outside in may be more like it.....my usb port on the camera i snot working right now so you will have to wait for pictures- but we are having a ginormous party for Noah this year. You know- you only turn 13 once. IF you are in our area around the dinner hour- drop by we would love to have you and the more the merrier to help celebrate a huge birthday for Noah!

Ypsi

Ypsilanti tournament with the Romeo Raptors- back in June I think:)

This was a tough tournament- the boys played hard but we were not very successful- If I remember correctly, it was like 6 games in two days- and we only won 2! But they had fun as you can tell:)

It was also the night Matt had to leave from Ypsi to go to Fort Wayne and the boys and I came home to a dark house- a thunderstorm/tornado came through while we were gone and we had no power when we returned- we had to borrow a generator and run the fridge and the sump pump for three days, we also had to go to the Laundromat for three days what a bummer that was-

Cherry Season @ Westview

Aaron had basketball practice prior to a tournament but the other 3 boys
and I took advantage of the abundance of Cherries and went picking......
They were sweet! This was actually about a month ago but I am just now getting
caught up-

Don't they look great? I meant the cherries but the boys look pretty good too~
Matt and I have been talking about Zach getting into to modeling- who knows it could pay for college:)

Wordless Wednesday

The Korean War Memorial- DC

Hey!

Hey!

Over the past year, Joelle and I have run into many of you who have asked, "So what are you doing?" Well here is a chance to catch up on our lives!

We have had the opportunity over the past six months to partner with Jim and Renee Miller in helping to start Pathway Community Church, a startup church located in Sterling Heights. This Sunday we will have a preview service, in anticipation of our first public service on September 21st.

I (Matt)will be speaking this Sunday, and would like to invite you to join us. As it will be my first time to speak in over a year, it would be great to see some familiar faces, and to meet some of those who have expressed an interest to Joelle and I in what PCC will be like.

Here's the info:
When: Sunday, July 20, 10:00 am (Come early for coffee and donuts+ fruit etc.).
Where: Instructional Resource Center - 53 South to Hall Road East to Schoenner South. Make a Michigan left onto Canal (East). The IRC is on your left on Canal. It looks like a small school.

We would love to see you there! Write back if you need more info.
